What is your typical image of Senegalese taxis?
The Senegalese taxi industry is still very traditional with informal taxis (or clandos) occupying more than half of the market today. Due to the lack of a structured management system, most of the vehicles are quite aged and therefore do not provide a growing middle-class population with good quality taxi services.
KAI Senegal is becoming a game changer of taxi industry!
KAI Senegal was established in 2018 to revolutionize the traditional taxi industry in Senegal with the following 3 business pillars:
Fleet management service with good quality vehicles
Financing scheme to turn taxis into an asset investment for individuals
Digital ride hailing (taxi) app to connect individual customers
KAI Senegal is going to launch its digital ride hailing app with the Toyota “Starlet” as a first batch. The new app will offer an efficient taxi pick-up service for both drivers and individual customers as well as offer a transparent pricing with multi-payment methods (cash, mobile money, credit card).
The people in Senegal will start to see brand new yellow taxis with “KAI’s logo” in the streets soon!
KAI Senegal’s Ambition
KAI Senegal has a big ambition for transforming mobility and urban transport, while renewing the taxi fleet and offering a much-needed efficient urban transport system with its app. The company aims to lead a large market share of taxis in Dakar by the end of 2022, and expand into other countries across West Africa.
